Fair Game —
Cruel, Unethical, and Standard Policy

On November 5, 2016, Mike Rinder published an essay on his blog site “Something Can Be Done About It” titled Dealing with Critics of Scientology –The L. Ron Hubbard Playbook. I found the essay a comprehensive and incisive explanation of the fair game practice that the COS practices so militantly. I think it would be a valuable resource for media outlets and even the general public at large who might be interested in learning about this cruel and unethical practice. It’s a well-organized and informative article with impressive source citations. I think it deserves as wide a distribution as possible.

So impressed was I by the essay, that I took it upon myself to re-assemble it into a more publisher friendly format. Mike has been kind enough to allow me to make it available as a “broad public issue” document that anyone can read, download, and distribute as they so choose.

Ross and Carrie Audit Scientology

oh-no-logoRoss and Carrie are self-styled investigative journalists who specialize in spirituality, fringe science and the paranormal. When they visited the Los Angeles Church of Scientology to take the “free personality test,” they may have gotten more than they’d expected: two additional tests and a sales pitch. Listen to this audio of their misadventure. It’s as amusing as it is instructive.

What I found most striking about their account was their personal perspectives and attitudes about their Scientology experience. Theirs was a typical reflection of contemporary society, one that’s changed significantly due in large part to the advances in technology and mass media. It was a stark contrast to LA Org in particular and the COS in general that in so many ways are still stuck in the Fifties on so many levels. It’s ironic that Scientologists consider themselves far in advance to “wog” society, when in reality it’s completely the other way around.
